The Great War of 1914-1918 had been the greatest conflict the world had known and that world had changed, robbed of its order, structure and beliefs; dictators came soon enough to replace the toppled monarchs. This biography details the many challenges Baldwin faced during his life.

Jeremy Dobson comes from a literary family, which boasts connections, through his father, with J.R.R. Tolkien and Lord Cecil. He often scored top marks for writing history projects in his school days and has thirty years' experience as a technical writer in the Automotive Industry, producing manuals and sometimes preparing company press releases. He has contributed articles to motoring and athletics club magazines.
