Windfall by Helen Stevenson
During the interval of a summer concert, singer and translator Elizabeth abandons her lover Mark for a young stranger. Through Will, the sculptor, Elizabeth is introduced to a physical world she has never known before.
Helen Stevenson grew up in the north of England, the daughter of a grammar-school headmaster, and studied Modern Languages at Oxford University. She worked as a literary agent and editor before moving to a small town between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, where she wrote her first novel. She divides her time between London and the south of France.
