Work Out Spanish GCSE by Rj Taylor

Aimed at the student who wishes to work either on his/her own or with the help of a tutor, to advance their knowledge of spoken and written Spanish. The course assumes an elementary knowledge of Spanish but should assist a student to achieve GCSE examination Grade 1 of the Institute of Linguistics. This book consists of 21 chapters, each of which is centred on a particular theme designed to reflect the life and people of Spain. Within each chapter there are usually three key texts, the first of which is intended to convey useful information about contemporay Spain, the second a narrative passage linked to the theme and the third is a conversation which might arise from the narrative. In each chapter certain elements of grammar and syntax are systematically exemplified in the key passages and exercises. The conversations and oral exercises are recorded on a cassette, which can be purchased separately, by native Spanish speakers which allows the student the opportunity to develop oral and aural skills by the use of a play-back machine in a language laboratory. A pronunciation guide is also included in the beginning of the book.
