Destination New York Zusammenfassung

Destination New York Herge

This is a less well-known but just as exciting and charming comic book adventure from the creator of Tintin. In Destination New York the Stratoship H.22, designed by Jo and Zette's father, suffers an attempted bombing. Jo and Zette fly it out of its hangar and unable to return they crash land near to the North Pole. There they face a race against time to return the plane to home and win the trans-Atlantic challenge. But they haven't counted on the efforts of the Stockrise brothers to scupper their plans. The Adventures of Jo, Zette and Jocko was created by Herge in the same comic book style as his most iconic character, Tintin, whose place amongst the classic children's characters still helps to sell over 100,000 copies every year in the UK, with an estimated 230 million sold worldwide since Herge first put pen to paper on him. Tintin was adapted for the silver screen by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson in 2011.

Über Herge

Herge (Georges Remi) was born in Brussels in 1907. His pseudonym comes from his initials backwards (R.G., as pronounced in French). Over the course of 54 years he completed 23 albums of The Adventures of Tintin series, which is now considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comics series of all time. With translations published in over 80 languages, more than 230 million copies sold worldwide and a Hollywood movie to its name, Tintin dominates the Comics and Graphic Novels chart even today. Sadly, Herge died in 1983, leaving his 24th album, Tintin and Alph-Art, unfinished, but his hero continues to be one of the most iconic characters in both adult and children's fiction.
