Daijiro Kato Zusammenfassung

Daijiro Kato Yoko Togashi

Daijiro Kato, the supremely talented 250cc racer, with 17 victories to his name, had dazzling prospects until his fatal crash, aged just 26, at the 2003 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. Ranked seventh in the world and riding a top-class Honda as team-mate to Sete Gibernau, he was expected to be a future MotoGP champion and likely threat to Valentino Rossi. Published for the first time in English, with the co-operation of Dorna, MotoGP's organising body, this official tribute book tells Daijiro Kato's full story.

Inhaltsverzeichnis

More than 70 contributors, from race bigwigs to personal friends, describe the meteoric career of Kato, their memories supported by a wealth of colour photographs. Four-times Japanese Minibike Champion from 1988 to 1991, he was 250cc World Champion in 2001, and MotoGP 'Rookie of the Year' in 2002. Tributes from the Supreme Advisor to Honda, Kiyoshi Kawashima, Honda President, Takeo Fukui, and the President of Honda Racing, Suguru Kanazawa. Family and friends present their memories, along with personal photographs. Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi recall the rival who liked a quiet nap before races. Journalists and Haynes authors Mat Oxley and Michael Scott add their contributions. Publication of the English-language edition of this affectionate portrait, first published two years ago in Japanese, will coincide with the Japanese round of the 2006 MotoGP.
