Borders Tales and Trails by Kenneth Turnbull

Borders Tales and Trails guides the reader through the exploration of the most important and exciting heritage sites in the Borders of Scotland.

The story of Scotland is that of a brave and defiant people's desire for self-determination. The recorded part of that story covers thousands of years and involves much internal strife and frequent wars with great foreign powers, including the Vikings, Romans, and English. That a nation so small could not only survive under such conditions but also evolve and thrive, influencing the entire world, is a testament to the power of human will and courage.

From one site to the next, you will learn what occurred in the past and what exists today. Directions include GPS settings by postal code and coordinates.

Illustrated with color photographs and narrated by authors Kenneth and Norman Turnbull of the Borders Turnbull clan.

Turnbull, Norman: - Norman Turnbull was born in Edinburgh in 1942 and grew up in the Borders countryside. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force. On retirement from his Service, Norman returned home to Scotland and his heritage in the Borders where he shepherded and explored known and forgotten history. In 2009, Norman worked with the local Borders Turnbull Clan Association in the preparations for the international clan gathering and the unveiling of the famous Turning of the Bull monument at the Hawick Heritage Hub. Norman was appointed Clan High Shanachie by the Turnbull Clan Association in 2010.
