Candlemaking by David Constable
Providing simple instructions for making a selection of dipped, moulded and novely candles, this book starts with a description of the tools of the trade and the raw materials required, as well as safety guidelines. This is followed by easy step-by-step instructions for making the basic dipped, filled and tapered candels and further advice is given for rolled, tapered, hand-plaited and hand-modelled candles, and perfumed and floating candles. The next section takes readers further with guidance on surface techniques: carving and curling; ironing and hammering; twisting, rolling and inlaying; as well as applique methods such as adding pressed and dried flowers. The final chapter includes fun ideas for novely candles, including birthday cake candles, an ice cream cone, balloon candles, ice candles and sand candles.
David Constable holds the Guinness Book of Records certificate for the world's largest free-standing candle, has written two other Search Press books on the subject, contributed to many magazines and a new book on Beeswax Crafts for Search Press, and made several television appearances.
