Commando Presents: Codename Warlord by Manuel Benet

The wartime Scarlet Pimpernel is back. Nazis beware! A defecting German professor in need of rescue. A plan to build the biggest 'Fuhrer' class warship of all time uncovered. Though branded a coward, there can only be one man for the job - Flint, Lord Peter Flint... Codename: WARLORD!

Manuel Benet Blanes was born in Valencia in 1946. During the 1960s and 1970s, he studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in San Carlos, the Escuela de Maestría Industrial and at the Academia de Pintura Vicente Barreira. Soon after this, his career as a comic artist began as he produced artwork for Editorial Valenciana.
A firm favourite with Commando fans, Manuel has contributed to some of the comic’s popular ongoing series, such as Convict Commandos and the more recently created collections and upcoming new adventures featuring Manuel’s work via DC Thomson’s Heritage Comics and Commando.

Recruited to help bring Lord Peter Flint back into service in 2019, Iain McLaughlin had been a regular contributor to Commando comics since embarking on a freelance career after many years as a member of the editorial teams on well-loved DC Thomson titles such as Beano and The Dandy. Iain has contributed stories to some of the UK’s most popular and enduring characters, including Desperate Dan, Dennis and Gnasher, The Broons and Oor Wullie.

Ian Kennedy began working for DC Thomson in 1949 when he was only seventeen. His first published work was inking the black squares in The Sunday Post newspaper crosswords. Much loved and lauded by fans and artists alike, Ian became one of the most popular and prolific artists to grace covers of Commando comics. A true legend of British comics, Ian sadly passed away in 2022. With an incredible body of work behind him, his legacy will continue to inspire generations of illustrators to come. The Art of Ian Kennedy was published in 2019 to celebrate 70 years of the artist’s work with DC Thomson.
