Consciousness and the Study of Society: Towards a New Perspective on Sociology introduces students to the fundamentals of sociology while also emphasizing the idea that perceptions based on one's level of consciousness shape the world in which we live. Charles DeMotte holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Kansas. He is an adjunct professor in the Sociology/Anthropology Department at the State University of New York at Cortland, where he teaches a course in American society along with basic sociology.
