Drawn to New York by Peter Kuper

A declaration of love to Peter Kuper's adoptive home, this diary is a vibrant survey of New York City's history. Kuper's illustrations depict a climb to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, the homeless living in Times Square, roller skaters in Central Park, the impact of September 11, the luxury of Wall Street, street musicians and other scenes unique to the city. With comics, illustrations and sketches, this work of art portrays everything from the low life to the high energy that has long made people from around the world flock to the Big Apple.

Peter Kuper's cartoons and graphics have appeared in Time, the New York Times, and MAD, where he wrote and drew Spy versus. Since 1997, we've been spying every month. He co-founded World War 3 Illustrated and has served on its editorial board for more than 30 years. His works include The System, Sticks and Stones, and Stop Failing to Recall, among others. Peter has also converted The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and many of Franz Kafka's writings, including The Metamorphosis, into comics. Peter stayed in Oaxaca, Mexico from July 2006 to August 2008, during a significant teachers' strike, and his work is featured in his book Diario de Oaxaca (PM Press).
