Egg by Robert Burton
Tells the inside story of the miraculous way living things are born from eggs. From the very first glimmerings of life inside a shell to the moment the young creatures struggle free, readers can follow every stage of hatching, develeopment and growth. This book takes a look at different creatures that reproduce via eggs including birds, tortoise, snakes and goldfish.
Robert Burton (1577-1640) spent most of his life in Oxford, first as a student and later as a scholar. His most famous work, the enormous Anatomy of Melancholy, was first published in 1621 and expanded in further editions throughout Burton's life.
