Originally a secondary English and drama teacher then a primary teacher, Nikki Gamble was Head of English Education in the School of Education at Anglia Polytechnic University before becoming a freelance lecturer, writer and education consultant. She reviews children's fiction regularly for the TES, Books for Keeps and the School Librarian among others. She has been involved in developing materials for the National Literacy Strategy and is secretary of the British Association of Lecturers in Children's Literature and serves on the committee of the UK Board on Books for Young People.
