Kershul combines her experiences as a teacher, international traveler, and language scholar to offer a fun, unique approach to learn and utilize a language. Kristine spent ten years as a professor of German in colleges in the United States and Europe as an experienced linguist. Kristine is a world traveler who has visited over 100 countries, from Bhutan to Zimbabwe, and nearly every exotic location in between. She is familiar with the issues that all tourists face, regardless of the country they are visiting.
She has firsthand experience with how languages may open doors to new experiences, new friends, and new cultures. Kristine earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in languages while residing in Heidelberg, Germany. She went on to get a second Master's degree in Medieval German Languages and Literature at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and then completed her doctoral studies in Medieval German Languages and Literature. She can speak a variety of languages, from Arabic to Swahili, in addition to German.
Kristine's interest in languages began when she was a child growing up in a trilingual family in Oregon, where Croatian, Danish, and English were spoken. Kristine's innate aptitude for languages led to opportunities outside of academia. She worked as a bilingual travel guide in Europe before moving to the United States to work as a translator. Germany has an embassy.
Kristine's passion for travel, learning new languages, and seeing new cultures has taken her all over the world. Namibia, Laos, or Guyana are just a few of the places she'll visit next. Kristine is a trained diver, a licensed pilot, and a downhill skier. She enjoys playing the piano and competitive horseback riding.
She lives in Seattle, Washington, as well as Cape Town, South Africa.
