High-Intensity Training by John Philbin

The High Intensity Training system is the most efficient and effective approach for maximum strength development available today for athletes. This book provides a solid introduction for understanding and implementing this system into weightlifting or sports training programmes. The system is supported by scientific research and is a compilation of Coach John Philbin's 25 years of experience with athletes at all levels, from Fernando Vargas to Lennox Lewis. It produces strength gains by teaching readers how to perform repetitions effectively, making muscles work harder and by providing deeper stimulus to the muscle fibres throughout the entire range of motion.
John Philbin is the founder of the NSPA (National Strength Professionals Association), a fitness certification company with over 12,000 members. He is a former assistant strength coach with the Washington Redskins under Dan Riley and was the 1984 Winter Olympic Strength coach at the United States Olympic Training Centre in Lake Placid, New York. While co-ordinating the strength programmes for all the winter sports he also worked with numerous summer athletes in events including track & field, boxing, rowing, kayaking and team handball. He is the former strength coach for Fernando Vargas, WBA Junior Middleweight Champion and is currently working with Lennox Lewis.
