The Hot Flash Cookbook by Cathy Luchetti

The Hot Flash Cookbook delivers appealing, tasty, low-fat recipes packed with nutrients that help keep bodies of all ages healthy, such as estrogen, calcium, antioxidants, and fibre. Author Cathy Luchetti provides delicious recipes for health and well-being during menopause that feature wholesome ingredients such as fresh herbs, root vegetables, nuts, and fish, and are inspired by a variety of delectable ethnic flavours and cuisines. Recipes like Turn the Tide Tapas, Mrs. Kale Gets Steamed, and Midlife Trifle, as well as Orange-Fennel Refresco, Beans and Bitter Greens, Sea Bass Miso, and Calico Chicken with Ginger go beyond the hot flash patrol and into the larger realm of healthful, enjoyable eating. Appealing two-colour illustrations throughout add to its charm.
Cathy Luchetti grew up in Texas, attended the University of Utah, and spent several years in the Peace Corps. She is a winner of the Pacific Northwest Bookseller's Award for Literary Excellence and the James Beard Award for Best Writing on American Food. In 2002 she was invited to speak at the White House on women in the American West. She lives in Oakland, California. Previous Books: Home on the Range, and several other titles about women in the west.
