The human body is much much more sophisticated than any human invention. Even everyday activities - such as eating a meal cleaning your teeth or reading this book - use complex combinations of nerves muscles and bones. Yet the body is capable of many more spectacular achievements - such as running marathons working out intricate calculations or giving birth. Learn by discovery How the Body Works investigates all kinds of questions about the human body and lets you discover the answers. Which are your strongest muscles? How much blood does your heart pump every minute? How do you see in colour? How can you tell where a sound comes from? There are over a hundred experiments in this book that you can do to find out the answers to these questions and many more. Using equipment that is safe and easily available the experiments are simple to set up fun to do and highly educational. Linking words and pictures How the Body Works presents a "hands-on" way to learn about human physiology. Each experiment is photographed "step-by-step" so you can follow the pictures as you try the experiment yourself. The principles behind the experiments are explained explicitly.
