Intimacy by A Kakabadse

Sixty per cent of people at work admit to one or more intimate relationship. A recently completed international workplace survey highlights that many people intermingle their private and work lives. Time spent on tasks, the intensity of team relationships and the sharing of common interests make work a multi-purpose site, satisfying personal needs as well as ambitions and career drives. Are managers prepared to face such challenges? No. However, through understanding workplace intimacy practices, firm guidance for managers is provided to better prepare them to address such sensitive encounters.

'Addressing such personal and emotive issues as workplace intimacy is a brave step for any academic and it is greatly to the credit of Andrew and Nada Kakabadse that they are investigated here in such serious and sensitive depthThere is nothing sensationalist or 'tabloid' in the approach taken by this book. It is, rather, an ambitious and highly scholarly exposition of historical social and moral trends, leading to an intensive questioning of current practices and beliefs - required reading for anyone seeking to make or implement policy on employee interactions, or with an interest in the area of Organisational Behaviour.' - Amanda Briggs, Personnel Review
