Jerry's Motives by Peter Stockwell

Kitsap County Sheriff Detective Marcus Jefferson promised Joan, his wife, to be more attentive to her needs for a family man at home regularly. But a detective is not always able to follow leads and catch suspects on a 9 to 5 schedule. His latest endeavor involves uncovering the truth about his Uncle Jeremais Jefferson's death two years ago. Jerry, a Snohomish County sheriff's deputy, had investigated a drug cartel operation in his county. When the undercover research went bust, he was forced to resign after a 28 year career. Five months later a suicide ended the family embarrassment.

Marcus never believed his uncle took his own life and with the aid of his own father, Jerry's brother and a Seattle police officer, he dives into the cold case to prove a murder was committed. With evidence Jerry hid from the county department he uncovers corruption in the sheriff's office and potential judicial interference.

Threats and attacks against his family cause increasing angst in his wife and children, as well as his cousins, his Aunt Lydia, and his own mother and father. Can he resolve his uncle's death and keep his family safe from harm and potential death?
