He is a cofounder of Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sports in Society's Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program. MVP is most commonly associated with collegiate sports, however the 2005 Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and the 2004 World Series champion Boston Red Sox have also utilized it. Katz also oversees the United States Marine Corps' first-ever global gender violence prevention program. Millions of college and high school students have learned about masculinity and gender violence thanks to his award-winning educational video Tough Guide, his appearances in the films Wrestling with Manhood and Spin the Bottle, and his statewide lectures.
He has talked in forty-three states since 1990 at over nine hundred colleges, prep schools, high schools, middle schools, professional conferences, and military institutions.
