Movement for Change by David Hilborn

Historically, evangelicals have made many constructive contributions to the transformation of society. During the nineteenth century, William Wilberforce, Lord Shaftesbury and others established evangelicalism as a major reforming movement and their legacy lives on in a host of modern-day evangelical campaigns and societies. Evangelicals themselves, however, have often differed on the theology and strategy of social transformation. This major volume brings together historical, biblical, political, missiological and theological reflections on social transformation as a resource for those reflecting on and involved in social engagement. Contributors include David Bebbington, Jim Wallis, George Carey, John Coffey, Martyn Eden, Joel Edwards, David Hilborn and James Jones.
David Hilborn (PhD, Nottingham University) is director of studies of the North Thames Ministerial Course, having served as head of theology for the UK Evangelical Alliance since 1997. In that role he was responsible for the publication of a number of significant books and reports on topics where evangelicals differ from each other, including reports on hell, the Toronto Blessing and homosexuality. Formerly a United Reformed Minister, David is now an ordained clergyman of the Church of England. He is married to Mia, a hospital chaplain. They have two children.
