Naturally Georgia by Chris Greer

Georgia is a state of great geographical diversity, and as you make your way from the Atlantic Ocean up to the temperate rainforest of the southern Appalachians, you'll find a lot to see. Thousands of meandering creeks twist and turn their way through the coastal marsh, filling and emptying its 400,000 acres twice a day with tides that can average seven feet or even higher. The largest blackwater swamp in North America is just inland, and from there you can trek north through the ever-changing scenery as the landscape transitions from the Coastal Plain to the Piedmont and finally to the Appalachian Mountains. There is plenty of beauty, including rolling farmland, intriguing barns, and stately old trees that have witnessed incredible change since Georgia's inception in 1788.

It is a place of remarkable beauty that sets a perfect scene for a landscape photographer. The Mountains, the Heartland, the South, and the Coast are gorgeous backdrops where Chris Greer captures the essence of the state in this a showcase of the splendor that is Naturally Georgia.
Chris Greer, also the author of Georgia Discovered: Exploring the Best of the Peach State (Globe Pequot), is a professor and award-winning photographer who has traveled to picturesque locations all over the world, but has a soft spot for the unique and dynamic beauty in the state of Georgia. His photographs have been featured in a variety of exhibits and publications, and he has taught photography courses in exotic locations such as Australia and Italy. Although he has explored the planet on almost every conceivable form of transportation, his preferred method involves his wife, two young children, and a large motorhome he has no business driving. Chris is a Professor of Instructional Technology at Georgia College and his many projects within the realm of creative multimedia led to his selection as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2015. When he isn't traveling, teaching, or trying not to get lost in the woods, he resides in Athens with his family. See more of his work at chrisgreerphotography.com.
