Nichijou 10 by Keiichi Arawi

While the title (which translates as 'ordinary' or 'everyday') suggests a story of simple, everyday school life, the contents are more the opposite. Set in a strange school where you may see the principal wrestle a deer, or a robot hide the school lunches, the days that unfold in Nichijou are curious and hilarious, if not downright bizarre. However amidst all the chaos and comedy Arawi still takes time to share everyday slice of life stories giving readers an insight into modern Japanese youth culture.

Keiichi Arawi (1977-) is a skilled illustrator and comic artist. He started creating short stories for Media Factory's Comic Flapper (My Neighbor Seki, 7 Billion Needles) when he was 19 years old. While his first series, KazeMachi, was short-lived, it attracted the notice of Kadokawa Publishers, one of Japan's largest publishers. Nichijou, his short story, earned Kadokawa's 22nd ACE Award for Emerging Artists, and by November 2006, it was serialized in Kadokawa's flagship magazine Shonen Ace on a regular basis.

Nichijou has since sold over a million copies and been adapted into cartoons and video games. Guillermo del Toro chose it as one of the top comics from Japan today for Asahi News' SUGOI Japan project.
