Former cowboy, Paul Drury, also known as Tall Paul, wrote this inspiring biography on promise to his son Shane Drury, who was diagnosed with cancer. Tall Paul now lives as a mountain man and author, totally off grid in the mountains of northwest Colorado.

Paul, Tall: - As a child, I always wanted to be a mountain man and live life in the wild country. During high school and for a couple of years after graduation, I worked for the forest service, hunted, trapped and fished. I eventually worked on a cattle ranch in Wyoming for a while and then decided to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. I traveled overseas and had assignments in California, Wyoming and South Dakota. As a single parent I raised three boys. After the boys had grown, I moved to Colorado, where I currently reside. I purchased some mountain property and moved onto that property when I retired. It was the life I had always dreamed of, the life of a mountain man, living totally off grid, in a cabin, in the mountains with my golden retriever, Hunter. I now hunt and fish, cut firewood for winter heat, melt snow for water for washing, get drinking water from a free running mountain spring and enjoy writing in the winter months.
