There comes a time in everybody's life where they will see something move in the corner of their eye and upon closer observation nothing is there. This book actually gives that something life. Kelly's vision of these thing he calls shadows become more apparent as he watches more of them float around his city. He convinces his friends that he is not crazy when one of the shadows crosses over into their world. This shadow is intrigued with the fact that it can kill a human a lot quicker than the whispers of deceit that it was accustomed. The four of them are forced to seek out this shadow when strange and deadly things start to happen. During their journey they learn more about each other and that knowledge can either make them or break them. How do you destroy something that lives off of your fears and is willing and able to kill anyone in it's path to wiping out mankind. What or who can save humans from total annihilation? The four friends find who their weakest link is and now have to make a tough decision in order to prevail over something they never knew existed. Strength doesn't come in numbers this time
