This practical text presents a wealth of fresh ideas and techniques for strengthening counseling skills to face real-world issues in nutrition therapy. It offers students and practitioners advice on ways to increase referrals, decrease no-shows, and overcome common barriers to effective counseling. The Third Edition also explores strategies for counseling patients with AIDS, diabetes, and other chronic diseases, for group therapy, for teaching developmental skills, and for end-of-life counseling. This edition has a reader-friendly design and layout. New learning activities - including case studies and critical thinking exercises - encourage students to apply what they have learned to common situations in clinical practice.
