Pastor Steve and his family came from Kansas City to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1994 with the goal of building an aggressive congregation-planting church. Church at the Gate, with its varied ministries, campuses, and subsidiary churches, grew out of that vision and call. His goal is to facilitate church-planting movements, with the goal of seeing a large number of local life-giving churches spring up across the country and around the world--a goal reflected in his doctoral program. Based on 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, he wrote Obtainable Destiny (Creation House) in 2004. Caleb, Thomas, and Kaitlyn, his three teenagers, are his and Kristen's children.
