Ela is governed by President Daegal. It is a society full of fear. Terrorist acts are becoming more common. The people are ruled with an iron fist. Freija, Embla and Marcell all come from the same orphanage. When the Military School, Bionbyr, comes to their home city of Ithmah to recruit new cadets, Marcell is happy. His goal has always been to end up there. Freija realizes that she can help the orphanage with the salary she receives after completing her education. Embla is very critical of the school. All three are selected to go to Bionbyr where they will be trained to defend the country of Ela against rebels and the Power People.
