Sue Beckwith Sue is a Registered Nurse and qualified teacher. From 1983 to 1999 Sue was a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, working with fundraisers to provide a purpose built Diabetes Centre for Cornwall, providing a venue for clinics, education, meetings and a drop in service and facilitating clinically effective public health initiatives aimed at raising public awareness of diabetes. In partnership with Plymouth University, Sue co-wrote the then English Nursing Board courses in diabetes care and management. In 1999 Sue took up the post of Senior Lecturer in the faculty of Health and Social care at Oxford Brookes University, where she designed and lead an advanced level double module <"Caring for people with diabetes>". In 2005 the Consortium for Healthcare Research awarded Sue a Doctoral Fellowship. In addition to her PhD studies she continues to write regular articles on diabetes for the Journal of Practice Nursing.
