This book isn't as pink and glittery as I expected from the cover. It's an adventure quest where Molly, a girl who secretly turns into a mermaid and drops into a magical world, helps save ocean creatures from the Dark Queen using special powers granted to her by a pendant. The characters in the book are well drawn; particularly Molly, whose bravery prevents disaster. It's a great story (I loved the pendant with its sea-creature powers). I think a hungry 7+ girl reader would devour it. This is a story for readers already growing in confidence, supported by plenty of illustrations that nicely complement the narrative. * Write Away *

Sue Mongredien read English at Leeds University. After graduating, Sue worked as an editor of children's books before leaving to travel around the world. She now lives in Brighton with her partner and three children and is a full-time writer. She has had over 100 books published.
