Perdita and the Midsummer People by Peter Hunt

First there is a lady chained to a birch tree, and then Perdita sees a huge White Horse where there isn't one, and then there is a farmer ploughing dangerously close to a fairy ring . And the wild Midsummer festivals are coming closer and closer . This is the second of the Perdita novels, and the book includes a long short story 'What Didn't Happen at Samhain'.

Professor Emeritus of Children's Literature in Cardiff University, Peter Hunt was the first specialist in the field of children's literature to be awarded full Professor of English at a British university. He has authored or edited eighteen books on the subject, as well as more than 200 essays and 150 book reviews. His books have been/are being translated into Danish, Japanese, Greek, Persian, and Korean, and he has also released four novels for young adults. From Finland to New Zealand and Japan, he has lectured at over 100 universities and colleges in 20 countries, including stints as a Visiting Professor at universities in the United States and as a Visiting Fellow in Australia. In 1995, he received the Outstanding Scholarship Prize from the International Society for the Fantastic in the Arts, and in 2003, he received the Brothers' Grimm Award for services to children's literature from the International Institute for Children's Books in Osaka. He is one of the editors of the Norton Anthology of Children's Literature (January 2005) and the second edition of the International Companion Encyclopedia of Children's Literature (Routledge, 2 volumes, 2004).
