Povidky by Nancy Hawker
Brings together authors of different generations, styles, and backgrounds. This collection explores the drama of marital and extra-marital relationships, mother-daughter conflicts, and child abuse, set in the rough terrain of a Moravian mountain village, in the deprived Sudetenland, and in an unnamed smoky bar.
'"What is the selling-point of post-Communist literature?" If that is indeed the question, then the humour, acuity and inventiveness of many stories in Povidky must be part of the answer' Maya Jaggi, The Guardian 'Wonderfully diverse, energetic and entertaining.' One Eye Open
