A novel of New York's Lower East Side seen through the eyes of a first-generation Jewish-American boy growing up fast amid mobsters and rabbis in the 1930s-1950s. The growing boy struggles with love and death amid poverty, crime, and fervent religion and politics.
Leo Haber taught for many years at Hebrew Union College in New York City. He has published short fiction, poetry, and articles on current affairs, literature, and music in journals such as Commentary, Jewish Affairs, Southern Poetry Review, Voices West, Saturday Review, High Fidelity, and The New York Times.
