This is the beginning of marriage, and it has been downhill since. This book looks at covenants and contracts to get a better understanding of marriage and divorce. God did not permit divorce in the beginning. Marriages were supposed to be for life. Because of the hardness of a man's heart, however, a man could put away an unfaithful wife. They abused this allowance and began divorcing for any reason. Women followed suit. Jesus tried to correct this application; however, believers are divorcing for any reason again.
