David Gibbings is a retired Royal Air Force navigator who now works as a flight test engineer for helicopters and planes. He retired as Chief Flight Test Engineer after working on the rotodyne and with Westland. He was the first recipient of the Society of Flight Test Engineers' Kelly Johnson award for excellent success in his area outside of the United States. David, a licensed private pilot, now resides in Somerset, where he writes articles and talks.
