John Jennings is an Associate Professor of Visual Studies at The State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a Mississippi native and a University of Illinois graduate. Jennings is a graphic novelist and author who has won numerous awards. The examination, explication, and disruption of African American stereotypes in popular visual media are the focus of his research and teaching.
