Six Degrees Of Separation by John Guare

'I read somewhere that everybody on this planet is separated by only six other people. Six degrees of separation... It's a profound thought... How every person is a new door, opening up into other worlds.' Six Degrees of Separation is a modern American classic: an explosive comedy of two worlds colliding. When Ouisa and Flan Kittredge let an injured young man into their home in the middle of the night, they open the door onto an apparently new and enticing world. Inspired by the real-life story of a flamboyant con artist who convince wealthy Manhattan residents that he was the son of actor Sidney Poitier, Six Degrees of Separation is a captivating study of society's pretensions exposed by one man's self-confidence and imagination. An extraordinary high comedy in which broken connections, mistaken identities and tragic social, familial and cultural schisms create an hilarious and finally searing panorama of urban America in precisely our time.' - New York Times
