Sybil Marshall (1912-2005) was a British writer, teacher and educationalist. Working first as a teacher and then as a University lecturer, she became an author and her books include FENLAND CHRONICLES and the trilogy novels A Nest of Magpies, SharpThrough the Hawthorne, andStrip the Willow.
John Lawrence is an eminent English illustrator and wood engraver. He has twice won The Francis Williams Award for illustration (sponsored by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London), and twice been runner-up for the Kur-Emil - Maschler Award. He lives in Cambridge.
