Ms. Schaffer also works as a consultant in Binghamton, New York and is an instructor in the Health Information Technology Program at Broome Community College. Ms. Schaffer is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), past secretary for the local AAPC Chapter from 2000 to 2002 and is a frequently requested speaker on ICD-9-CM and CPT Coding. Ms. Schaffer co-authored UNDERSTANDING ICD-9-CM and UNDERSTANDING PROCEDURAL CODING with Ms. Mary Jo Bowie.
