Wcs;Literate Imagination by Michael Gilkes

"The Literate Imagination" is a series of critical essays on the literature of West Indian novelist Wilson Harris, receiver of a Guggenheim award in 1972 and awarded the Guyana National prize for Fiction in 1988. The majority of the papers contained in this volume were first presented at a symposium on Harris's work, presented at the Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick in November 1986. The central theme is the role of language in the enlarging and "enabling" of creative vision. Wilson Harris' commitment to the writing of fiction is seen as an attempt to question and explore the creative sources and resources of tradition and culture.
