William MacAskill is a cofounder of the charity organizations Giving What We Can and 80,000 Hours, as well as an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Oxford. These groups have contributed to launch the effective altruism movement by raising more than $400 million in lifetime pledged gifts to charity.
