Before working as a television writer, Donato Carrisi studied law and criminology. Carrisi's first novel, The Whisperer, was nominated for five international literary awards, sold in nearly twenty countries, and was translated into languages as diverse as French, Danish, Hebrew, and Vietnamese. Carrisi is a resident of Rome.
