Brown, Rosie: - I have always enjoyed writing; both stories and poetry. At Grammar School I was encouraged by my English teacher, who would read my stories, written for homework, to the rest of the class. He then asked me to continue the stories in my own time. My greatest achievement at that time was when he had my last homework printed in the school magazine.After leaving school, I would make up poems in my head during the fairly long walk to my pace of work. Later, when I was married and my daughter was born, being busy, I stopped writing and didn't start again until I was in my late thirties. I wrote a lot of poetry, and a book on spirituality. I did send the book to various publishers but each time received a letter telling me that, although they liked my work, they did not publish the type of book I had written. I have had some of my poems published in anthologies.Eventually, in my early sixties, I started to write this novel; A Room Without Windows; but even with a lot of encouragement from family and friends who have read the novel (including a teacher, a solicitor, my daughter and my lovely husband), I have only now, finally, had the book published. I hope that this will be followed by the publication of some of my poetry, and the completion of my second novel.I do hope you enjoy my work, Rosie Brown.
