Wild Woods by James Simon
A picture book about a child learning a lesson about respecting creatures in their natural habitat. A small girl and her grandfather are walking together in the woods, when a squirrel passes by them. The child wants the squirrel to be her pet and come home with her, but her grandfather says that "you can't tame a squirrel". The girl is led further into the woods, discovering new natural wonders such as a waterfall. She comes to understand too that her grandfather is right, she cannot take the squirrel home, for this is its proper home, in the wild woods.
