Molecular Cell Biology Summary

Molecular Cell Biology: International Edition by Angelika Amon

Molecular Cell Biology presents the key concepts in cell biology and their experimental underpinnings. The new edition of Molecular Cell Biology introduces a new member to our author team, respected researcher and teacher Angelika Amon of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This multi-media pack contains the print textbook and LaunchPad access for an additional GBP5 per student.

LaunchPad is an interactive online resource that helps students achieve better results. LaunchPad combines an interactive e-book with high-quality multimedia content and ready-made assessment options, including LearningCurve, our adaptive quizzing resource, to engage your students and develop their understanding.

Unique LaunchPad features included in Molecular Cell Biology:

* Pre-built Units for each chapter, curated by experienced educators, with media for that chapter organized and ready to assign or customize to suit your course.
* Intuitive and useful analytics, with a Gradebook that lets you see how your class is doing individually and as a whole.
* A streamlined and intuitive interface that lets you build an entire course in minutes.

LearningCurve in Launchpad
In a game-like format, LearningCurve adaptive and formative quizzing provides an effective way to get students involved in the coursework. It offers:

* A unique learning path for each student, with quizzes shaped by each individual's correct and incorrect answers.
* A Personalised Study Plan, to guide students' preparation for class and for exams.
* Feedback for each question with live links to relevant e-book pages, guiding students to the reading they need to do to improve their areas of weakness.

Molecular Cell Biology Reviews

'...a beautiful, well rounded and well produced excellent higher education text and reference book.' - David Archer, British Society for Cell Biology

About Angelika Amon

HARVEY LODISH is Professor of Biology and Professor of Bioengineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He is well known for his work on cell membrane physiology, particularly the biosynthesis of many cell-surface proteins, and on the cloning and functional analysis of several cell-surface receptor proteins, such as the erythropoietin and TGF receptors. His laboratory also studies hematopoietic stem cells and has identified novel proteins that support their proliferation.

ARNOLD BERK is Professor of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics and a member of the Molecular Biology Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. He is one of the original discoverers of RNA splicing and of mechanisms for gene control in viruses. His laboratory studies the molecular interactions that regulate transcription initiation in mammalian cells, focusing particular attention on transcription factors encoded by oncogenes and tumor suppressors.

CHRIS A. KAISER is Professor and Head of the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. His laboratory uses genetic and cell biological methods to understand the basic processes of how newly synthesized membrane and secretory proteins are folded and stored in the compartments of the secretory pathway.

MONTY KRIEGER is Whitehead Professor in the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. His laboratory has made contributions to our understanding of membrane trafficking through the Golgi apparatus and has cloned and characterized receptor proteins important for the movement of cholesterol into and out of cells, including the HDL receptor.

ANTHONY BRETSCHER is Professor of Cell Biology at Cornell University, USA. His laboratory is well known for identifying and characterizing new components of the actin cytoskeleton, and elucidating their biological functions in relation to cel
