Duncan Fallowell is one of Britain's most admired interviewers. He is the author of two other novels, a biography of April Ashley, the highly acclaimed travel book One Hot Summer in St Petersburg, the libretto of the opera Gormenghast, and a collection of profiles, 20th Century Characters.
