Janet Lee Carey grew up surrounded by redwood trees in northern California. The sea was only a short, winding road ride away. It was in this magic place that she first dreamed of writing children's books. Janet is the author of four previous children's novels, including The Beast of Noor, and Wenny Has Wings, which received the Mark Twain award. She lives with her family near Seattle, Washington.
