Born in Glasgow, June Skinner Sawyers has written extensively about music, travel, history, spirituality, and popular culture. She contributes regularly for the Chicago Tribune, where she used to write a nightlife column, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has taught numerous classes in the humanities at the Newberry Library in Chicago, including a course that studied the music of Bruce Springsteen. She is the author/editor of more than a dozen books, including Celtic Music, Racing in the Street: The Bruce Springsteen Reader, and the forthcoming About a Lucky Band that Made the Grade: The Beatles Together...and Apart.
