Books by Leslie Jean Mitchell

Leslie was born in 1944 in Dunfermline, Scotland where she was educated to post-secondary level. Her life has been guided by humanitarian principles instilled by her parents and her career path has been largely along these lines. Her training as a student nurse ended in her second year when matron refused her permission to marry and continue her training. She married Nigerian, Leonard Ofoegbu in 1963, accompanying him to his homeland the following year where they lived until they separated in 1985. Leslie then returned to live in the UK and they were divorced in 1996. Her earlier work in print has been cited in academic papers including A Lingering Nightmare: Achebe, Ofoegbu and Adichie on Biafra, Francoise Ugochukwu 2011. Leslie qualified as a social worker in 1991 from Portsmouth Polytechnic (now University of Portsmouth), working locally until her retirement as a Senior Practitioner in 2009. She has lived in Gosport, Hampshire since 1985 where she is actively involved with local charities supporting vulnerable and socially isolated people. Leslie has four children and eight grandchildren.
