Richard Weight is a writer and broadcaster based in London, UK. He is the author of We Are The Modernists! The Rise and Reign of British Youth Culture Since 1950 (2009) and Patriots: National Identity in Britain 1940-2000 (2002), which was shortlisted for the 2003 Orwell Prize for political writing. He was principal researcher and a co-author of Edward Heath's autobiography The Course of My Life (1998) and the co-editor of The Right To Belong: Citizenship and National Identity in Britain 1930-1960 (I.B. Tauris, 1998). He has written and presented documentaries for the BBC and has provided expert perspectives on the nature of modern Britain on productions as diverse as The Today Programme and Richard and Judy. He is a contributor to the Times and an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and of the Royal Historical Society.
