Ted Nealon was for twelve years a broadcaster on RTE political and current affairs programmes and received a Jacobs National Television Award for his skill and expertise in the interpretation and analysis of Government Information Services 1975 - 1977. In the 1981 general election he was elected a Dail deputy for Sligo-Leitrim constituency and was appointed Minister of State for Arts and Culture. He is a Commandant dans L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, 1985, French Government. He is a native of Coolrecull, Adare, Co. Sligo.
